Oil Tanker Catches Fire After Striking a Mine in the Strait of Hormuz

Al-Taj News – Iranian media reported, citing the naval forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, on Sunday that a fire broke out aboard an oil tanker before it exploded after striking a naval mine in the southern part of the Strait of Hormuz.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps had planted a number of mines in the Strait of Hormuz to prevent ships and oil tankers from passing through the shipping channel, as part of its ongoing threats to maritime traffic in the strait.
